ALLIES'S LANDING: 6th of June 1944

Publié par MISS UK

On the 6th of june 1944, call the D-Day, while almost all the France was occupated by german army, France asked for help to allies of Great Britain. ( there was the USA , Canada) the british army had to cross above the "sleeve"( see ) and go to a little port between , they had to make the weather map every day! One day , There were so much flog , and the war ships couldn't see anything ! This could be a good thing because the Germans officers couldn't see them, but this is more a bad thing , they couldn't know if there were Germans on the beach( Omaha beach) !!

they had to learn perfectly the map where was writing all the traps that enemie put under the sand... (They imagined a tank with a cogwheel in front of it , and if there was a mine, the cogwheel made it explose! AMAZING!)

Once there was closer from Omaha beach, ships had to discharge soldiers with tank very quickly , they didn't have a second to lose because the ships had to return in England to charge the others !

Men had to cross a little bit in the water with 30 KG (66 pounds) on there backs!! Some died , flooded under the weight of there bags ... The survivors of this first ordeal , had to be really carefull of themselfs, if they heard a sound , they had to take the most of precautions as possible , it could be the enemie....

So, on this 6 th of June 2014, celebrate the 70th birthday of the landing in Normandy !
