APARTHEID IN SOUTH AFRICA

Publié par MISS UK

do you know what is the "apartheid"?

Apartheid took place in South Africa from 1948 to 1991, this is the racial segregation of black people, those ones couldn't go were they wanted because they had passes,( a sort of note book) with written were they could went and were they couldn't went on, the majority of the benches were with a sign : "white only", 46 YEARS OF HELL FOR BLACK PEOPLE!! WHITE PEOPLE MADE THEM HATE LIFE!!

In Soweto, a city not far from Johannesburg, a big city in the country , some violents riots happened in the streets because of the insufficient resources at school, the fact that any blacks had no rights, that they were killed, tortured without a valid reason... and other things that we can't imagine! the riots were often guided by an anti-apartheid activist .

Nelson MANDELA, (Rolihlahla by african name),we musn't forget him, was a member of the ANC ( African National Congress, an anti -apartheid association , he fought against white domination (not in people number)) and he have a important place in the apartheid because he fought against the segregation , sadly, he was arrested on the 5th of august 1962, and he was sent in Robben Island, where he spent 27 years jailed.

On the 11th of february 1990 , he was released and , in 1993, he received the nobel peace price, he was elected first black president of South Africa in 1994.

This is the end of apartheid and the birt of the rainbow nation, (created by Desmond TUTU, a south african archbishop )which symbolize that all colours are accepted in the country and the South African post-racial society.

bye
